Description

A classic hearty lasagna recipe packed with flavor and layers of deliciousness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • ½ pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 32 ounces marinara sauce
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 16 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 8 ounces frozen spinach, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure your lasagna bakes perfectly.
  2. Break lasagna noodles into smaller pieces, then cook according to package instructions until just tender. Drain well.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the Italian sausage, ground beef, and diced onion for about 5-8 minutes or until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add minced garlic, marinara sauce, and fresh basil to the skillet. Stir gently until bubbling and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Toss in noodles to coat.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, thawed spinach, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended and creamy.
  6. On a large half sheet pan, spread the noodle mixture evenly. Dollop the ricotta mixture all over, then sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, with edges just starting to crisp.
  8. Remove from oven and let it sit briefly. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra parmesan if desired.
