A classic hearty lasagna recipe packed with flavor and layers of deliciousness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounces lasagna noodles
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- ½ pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 32 ounces marinara sauce
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 8 ounces frozen spinach, thawed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure your lasagna bakes perfectly.
- Break lasagna noodles into smaller pieces, then cook according to package instructions until just tender. Drain well.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the Italian sausage, ground beef, and diced onion for about 5-8 minutes or until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
- Add minced garlic, marinara sauce, and fresh basil to the skillet. Stir gently until bubbling and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Toss in noodles to coat.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, thawed spinach, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended and creamy.
- On a large half sheet pan, spread the noodle mixture evenly. Dollop the ricotta mixture all over, then sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, with edges just starting to crisp.
- Remove from oven and let it sit briefly. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra parmesan if desired.
