Crushed Tomato Sauce

Description

A simple and delicious crushed tomato sauce made with fresh ingredients.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic (minced, about 3 large cloves)
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (minced)

Instructions

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once shimmering, add the minced garlic and saute for about 2 minutes, or until translucent.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and Italian seasoning. Simmer on low for about 15 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the chopped basil and cook while stirring for another 2 minutes then remove from the heat.
  4. Use immediately, or let cool and store in jars or an airtight container. Enjoy!
