- Red gel food coloring
- 1/4 cup coarse sugar or crushed peppermint candies for coating
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Add red gel food coloring to achieve desired color.
- Roll the dough into balls and coat in coarse sugar or crushed peppermint candies.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool before serving.

- For extra peppermint flavor, consider adding more peppermint extract.
